UI/UX Designer
San Francisco / Remote
What you’ll work on
XTrace is building memory infrastructure for AI.
Not “chat history.”
Not “notes.”
Actual persistent memory that AI agents can use, share, and reason over.
You’ll design the interfaces that make this usable.
That includes:
How context shows up before a prompt is sent
How users understand what an AI “knows” about them
How memory is created, merged, or removed
How multiple AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) feel like one system
This is not a typical SaaS dashboard.
You’ll be defining patterns that don’t really exist yet.
What you’ll do
Design core product flows (not just screens)
Turn abstract concepts like “memory,” “beliefs,” and “context” into something people can actually use
Work closely with engineering to ship fast and iterate
Simplify complex systems into clear interactions
Own the product experience end-to-end (web app + extension)
What we’re looking for
Strong product sense — you know what matters and what doesn’t
Can design from first principles (not just copy existing patterns)
Comfortable working with ambiguity
Fast execution — you can go from idea → shipped UI quickly
Clean visual taste (we prefer simple over decorative)
Nice to have:
Experience with dev tools, AI products, or data-heavy interfaces
Frontend skills (React, Tailwind, etc.)
What makes this role different
You’re not polishing a finished product — you’re defining it
The concepts are new, so you’ll need to invent interaction patterns
Small team, high ownership, no layers
Why XTrace
AI tools are everywhere now.
But every time you switch tools, you start over.
No memory. No continuity.
We’re building the layer that fixes that.
