Memory as a log in

For 30 years, digital identity has meant one thing:

Prove who you are, then get access.

Usernames. Passwords. MFA. OAuth. SSO.

All of that works reasonably well for access control. But it completely breaks down for intelligent systems because AI agents don’t just need to know who you are. They need to know what matters to youwhat’s happened before, and what should happen next.

In other words: they don’t just need identity. They need memory.

The Limits of Traditional Identity in an AI-First World

  • Not just a blob of logs and embeddings.

  • Rich, structured representations of preferences, events, and relationships, so agents can reason over them.

Context-Aware

  • Surfaces only what’s relevant to the current task and risk level.

  • “Ordering coffee” and “approving a wire transfer” should not use memory in the same way.
